GHANAIAN DAY NAME BRACELETS HANDMADE FROM BEADS & BRASS WITH NAME ENGRAVINGS
In Ghana, a baby is not named until the eighth day; celebrated with a naming ceremony. For the first seven days, it is believed that the newborn’s spirit is still transitioning from the ancestral world and is not yet a part of the community. The newborn however, gets a default name at birth – DAY NAME, after the respective day of the week they were born, per their gender. On the eight day, they get their additional names which would include their family name, names surrounding the circumstances at their birth and other chosen names.
